House GOP Plan Also Wreaks Havoc on Medicare

Sep 19, 2013 Issues:

Washington, DC – Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the impact of the House Republicans CR bill would have on Medicare:

“House Republicans’ plan won’t just turn Americans’ health care back over to the insurance industry and destroy the protections and benefits in the Affordable Care Act – it would also wreak havoc on Medicare and other federal health programs.  From disrupting provider payments, to threatening access to care, to increasing out-of-pocket costs, this plan is bad news for kids, families, and seniors.  It also effectively eliminates the bipartisan Children’s Health Insurance Program and undermines lifesaving research at the National Institutes of Health. This is what happens when Speaker Boehner turns control of the people’s House over to the extreme tea-party wing.”
