Replace Sequester with Balanced Approach

One major challenge facing Congress if we don’t act now is automatic, meat-ax budget cuts at the end of this year — set up as a measure of last resort in the Budget Control Act. The cuts — $1.2 trillion over 10 years — are a reckless and irresponsible way to reduce the deficit. It was designed to be so unpalatable that Democrats and Republicans would come together to avoid this sword of Damocles.
